Civics Central: Salt Lake City considers tax increase, Cottonwood Heights to hold candidates' forum

Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. Government agencies have until 24 hours before a meeting to post their agendas, so check back as this schedule will be updated. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Bluffdale Planning Commission • Will hold a public hearing on a proposed preliminary plat for Palisade Acres, a residential subdivision with 32 lots (minimum 1 acre) at approximately 13800 S. 3600 West; Tuesday, July 9, 7 p.m., Bluffdale Fire Station, 14350 S. 2200 West, Bluffdale. Bountiful City Council » Will consider granting preliminary and final commercial site plan approval for Brighton Homes Commercial Office Building, 588 W. 2600 South; Tuesday, July 9, 7 p.m., 790 S. 100 East, Bountiful. View the Bountiful agenda.

Centerville Planning Commission • Will hold a public hearing on a conditional use permit for a new building height that exceeds the allowed height under city ordinance for Lot 405 of the Legacy Crossing at Parrish Lane development, 1148 W. Clinton City Council » Will consider reappointment of Dennis Cluff as city manager; Tuesday, July 9, 7 p.m., 2267 N. 1500 West, Clinton. View the Clinton agenda.

Cottonwood Heights City Council • Will administer the oath of office to new City Recorder Kory Solorio, and also hear June police and public works reports; Tuesday, July 9 at 7 p.m., Suite 300 of City Offices at 1265 E. Fort Union Blvd., Cottonwood Heights. View the Cottonwood Heights agenda.

Cottonwood Heights Meet the Candidates • Incumbent Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore is challenged by Peyton Robinson and incumbent Councilman Mike Peterson faces two contenders, Ben Derrick and Nicole Omer. Councilman Tee Tyler is running unopposed in District 4. This Thurday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m., the city is hosting a meet the candidates night in the first floor training room of City Offices at 1265 E. Fort Union Blvd., Cottonwood Heights.

Davis County Commission • Will consider amending the bid award for the Legacy Events Center Soccer Complex; Tuesday, July 9, 10 a.m., Davis County Administrative Office Building, 61 S. Main St., Farmington. View the Davis County agenda.

Herriman City Council • Will hold a public hearing on the Storm Drain Impact Fees analysis and enactment; Thursday, July 11, 7:30 p.m., 13011 S. Pioneer St., Herriman. View the Herriman agenda.

Midvale Planning Commission • Will host public hearing about amending master plan for Bingham Junction Rooftops development at 7800 South and Euro Drive; 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, Council chambers, City Hall at 655 W. Center St., Midvale. View the Midvale planning agenda.

Murray City Council • Will consider a resolution for an interlocal agreement between the Murray City School District and the city for shared use of the new Hillcrest Junior High; Tuesday, July 9, City Center at 5025 S. State St., Murray. View the Murray agenda.

Ogden City Council • Will proclaim July 14, 2013 as John A. Lindquist Day, will also consider allowing construction contractors to use lots for outdoor storage in certain industrial zones; Tuesday, July 9, 6 p.m. Council chambers, 3rd floor of Municipal Building, 2549 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Salt Lake City Council • Will hold a public hearing on a proposed 13.8 percent property tax increase July 9, 7 p.m. at City Hall, 451 S. State, Room 315.

Salt Lake County Council • Will not meet Tuesday, July 9. Next meeting is July 16.

South Jordan Planning Commission • Will consider site plan review of priest housing at Sri Ganesha Hindu Temple, 1142 W. 10290 South; Tuesday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m. in Council chambers, City Hall, 1600 W. Towne Center Dr., South Jordan. View the South Jordan planning agenda.

South Weber City Council • Has canceled its Tuesday, July 9, meeting.

Syracuse City Council » Will consider proposed Resolution R13-15 updating and amending the city consolidated fee schedule, which includes proposed changes to the utility rate structure; Tuesday, July 9, 7 p.m., 1979 W. 1900 South, Syracuse. View the Syracuse agenda.

Taylorsville City Council » Will hear a report from the Ad Hoc Committee on Fire Services; Wednesday, July 10, 6:30 p.m., 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd. (5325 South), Taylorsville. View the Taylorsville agenda.

Utah County Commission • Will consider adopting an interlocal cooperation agreement between the county and Eagle Mountain Redevelopment Agency; Tuesday, July 9, 9 a.m., 100 E. Center St., Provo. View the Utah County agenda.

Weber County Commission • Will approve the final vote-by-mail tally for June's special election, will also consider contract for design, construction and oversight services for the new headquarters library in Roy; Tuesday, July 9, at 10 a.m. first floor Commission chambers of the Weber Center, 2380 Washington Blvd., Ogden. West Bountiful Planning Commission • Will consider an application for a conditional use permit for a Kumon Learning Center at 135 N 500 West, and will discuss current yard regulations, particularly setbacks for attached decks; Tuesday, July 9, 7:30 p.m., 550 N. 800 West, West Bountiful. West Jordan City Council • Will hold public hearing on amending salary schedule of city employees, will also receive more public comments and then vote on an ordinance that creates the Highlands Assessment Area; Wednesday, July 10, at 6 p.m., 3rd floor Council Chambers, City Hall, 8000 S.
