Here's what's being talked about over the weekend in pop culture:

• Disney/Pixar's "Monsters University" romped to an $82 million opening weekend, but Brad Pitt's zombie movie "World War Z" scored an impressive $66 million for second place. [Box Office Mojo]

• Gary David Goldberg, the veteran TV producer who created "Family Ties" and co-created "Spin City" (both starring Michael J. Fox), has died at the age of 68. [Vulture]
