One of this summer’s most-anticipated shows features British pop icon Adam Ant, who is on his largest North American tour in 18 years touring behind his new album, “Adam Ant is The Blueblack Hussar Is Marrying The Gunnar’s Daughter.”

In a phone interview, Ant, 58, said the album’s 17 songs are autobiographical, and the album’s nearly 70 minutes of material is something he never would have been able to do on a major label.

(Ant’s Blueblack Hussar label is handling the release.)

Ant promised a long night of music — “It’s like I’ve run a marathon every night” — that will include six songs off the new collection, as well as the hits that have helped sell 40 million copies of his albums, such as “Goody Two Shoes,” “Stand and Deliver,” “Wonderful” and “Room at the Top.”

(Globally, he once had eight singles in the Top 40 in one week).

Some of the more revealing songs include “Cool Zombie.” which details how Ant, almost by accident, bought a house in Tennessee, married and conceived his daughter there, and “Who’s a Goofy Bunny, Then?,” a tribute to his former manager Malcolm McLaren.

“It’s a challenge I look forward to,” Ant said of his upcoming tour. “I’ll be giving it my best on the 23rd of July.”
