Halfway through the May sweeps, KUTV-Ch. 2 maintains a big lead in the late-news ratings.
According to Nielsen, here's how the Monday-Friday numbers for the three 10 p.m. newscasts and KSTU's 9 p.m. newscast stack up:

KUTV-Ch. 2: 11.5 rating/23 share

KSL-Ch. 5: 6.4 rating/13 share

KSTU-Ch. 13: 5.0 rating/9 share

KTVX-Ch. 4: 3.5 rating/7 share

(A rating point represents 1 percent of the 917,370 TV-equipped homes Nielsen estimates are in the Salt Lake Television market; a share point equals 1 percent of the homes where television is actually being watched at a given time.)
The Week 2 numbers are all within two-tenths of a rating point of the Week 1 numbers, so we have a pretty clear pattern here.
KUTV also leads other local newscasts from 5-9 a.m., and its noon newscast is significantly ahead of all the other local midday shows.
Ch. 4 leads Ch. 2 by three-tenths of a rating point at 4 p.m.; Ch. 2 leads by half a point at 4:30 p.m.
And there are a couple of interesting battles shaping up. KUTV is ahead of KSL by one-tenth of a rating point at 5 p.m. and two-tenths of a rating point at 6 p.m.
Two weeks down, two weeks to go ...
