Two-time world saddle bronc champion Cody Wright of Milford has reached another milestone.

Wright won the Clovis (Calif.) Rodeo last weekend and pocketed $5,615. By doing so, he became the 20th member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association to earn over $2 million in his career.

“... I just wish I had all of it right now,” Wright joked. “I wish I could have it all in a lump sum.”

Asked why he’s been so successful, Wright said, “It’s a combination of [doing] well at big rodeos and [staying] healthy. ... I’ve been lucky enough to be included in the big rodeos over the years and to win large amounts of money at a lot of them.”

This season, Wright leads the world saddle bronc standings with earnings of $45,254. He has won more than $4,000 in five different rodeos, topped by Denver, Fort Worth and Clovis.

“This has been a really big spring run for me,” Wright said. “... I’ve just been drawing so well at these big rodeos.”

Wright, who turned 36 on April 1, is well-positioned to qualify for his 11th National Finals Rodeo. He won world championships in 2008 and 2010.

After Clovis, Wright’s career earnings total $2,004,508. He joined the PRCA in 1998.
