West Valley City • Rock musician Marilyn Manson and conservative radio host Glenn Beck have at least one thing in common — they both will perform at Usana Amphitheatre this summer.

Earlier this week, Utah promoter United Concerts announced the 2013 schedule for its annual summer concert series in West Valley City.

It kicks off on June 4 with a show by Manson and Alice Cooper. Beck’s “Man in the Moon” special July 6 will be paired with a conservative rally the evening before.

Bob Dylan will make a much-anticipated return to Utah on Aug. 1, with special guests Wilco, My Morning Jacket and Ryan Bingham.

And the venue will offer five shows featuring country superstars Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and Luke Bryan. The latter recently won the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year award.

Country dominates the amphitheater’s lineup, which also includes promising, up-and-coming country artists Kacey Musgraves and Florida Georgia Line.

“We have a lot of guys in cowboy hats and pickup trucks,” United Concerts president Jim McNeil said of Utah audiences.

The appetite for country music is spurred by “very aggressive country stations” in the greater Salt Lake City area, said Teresa Mooney, vice president of marketing at United Concerts.

If country’s not your thing, there are other Usana concerts worth seeing.

Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds Five and Guster perform on June 20; 311 will bring its annual Unity tour (with Cypress Hill and G. Love & Special Sauce) on July 30; Rush’s “Clockwork Angels Tour” will headline July 31; Dave Matthews Band will live it up on Aug. 27; and Alice in Chains and Jane’s Addiction will lead the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival on Sept. 2.

Usana Amphitheatre also will continue its “Green Initiative” partnership with Rocky Mountain Recycling and its volunteers. In 2012, the venue recycled 9.8 tons, which helps attract environmentally conscious artists such as Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson, Mooney said.

United Concerts, which has no plans to host shows at The Gallivan Center this summer, also will help produce Jason Aldean’s July 27 show at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy.
