New York man arrested in Utah with 65 pounds of pot in motor-home
The Utah Highway Patrol on Friday reported the arrest of a man suspected of trying to drive 65 pounds of marijuana across the country.
On Wednesday, a UHP trooper near Green River stopped a motor-home going east on Interstate 70 for tinted windows and improper lane travel.
The trooper became suspicious of criminal activity during contact with the driver, who was the only person in the motor-home. The trooper brought out his police service dog, who alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, according to a UHP news release.
The trooper searched the motor-home and found about 65 pounds of marijuana inside.
The 57-year-old driver, from New York, was arrested and booked into the Emery County Jail. Investigators believe he was taking the marijuana to the east coast from California.
