A man was in serious condition Friday, the day after he crashed into a pickup truck pulling out of a parking lot near the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College.
Ogden police Lt. Will Cragun said the 24-year-old victim suffered a severed left leg in the 8 p.m. Thursday crash near Dan Street and Washington Boulevard.
Cragun said the accident remained under investigation and no citations had yet been issued, but it appeared the 1997 Ford pickup truck, driven by a 20-year-old male, caused the crash.
The truck, westbound on Dan Street, was approaching a parking lot near Washington Boulevard when it pulled out in front of the northbound motorcyclist, witnesses told police.
The motorcyclist, whose name was not immediately released, tried to “lay down” his bike, but still slid into the pickup. In the collision, his leg was traumatically amputated near the knee. He was rushed to McKay-Dee Hospital, where he remained on Friday.
