Utah’s Lock-n-Load Java is being featured in sweet and savory recipes on the 37 Cooks blog throughout April.

The blog challenges cooks to create recipes using an ingredient or theme. The site settled on Utah’s Lock-n-Load because one of the cooks’ husbands received a care package from the coffee company while deployed in Afghanistan.

Lock-n-Load is co-founded by Carl Churchill, a retired Army veteran, and his wife, Lori Churchill.

The cooks received Lock-n-Load’s nine coffee blends and four single origin coffees to experiment with. Most of them have come up with two recipes. Creations include marinating flank steak in a coffee balsamic sauce and a coffee glaze for doughnuts.

Owner Lori Churchill said she’s seen an uptick in business — both from current customers wanting to try new flavors and new customers sent from the cooking blog. The self-described foodie calls the cooks “artists. They’ve taken our product and created these delicious recipes,” she said.
