Former Timpanogos High basketball star Tanner LeBaron is on a church mission in New York City (South) right now, but when he returns he will be heading to Nebraska.
LeBaron, a 6-foot-1 combo guard, will sign with Western Nebraska Community College when the juco signing period begins next month.
WNCC also produced BYU guard Raul Delgado and is coached by Russell Beck, a former Utahn.
"We are happy to add Tanner to the program," Beck said. "He will provide us with great leadership and I know that when he returns he will work his tail off.
Prior to his mission, LeBaron redshirted at Western Wyoming CC.
Beck cited LeBaron's excellent shooting skills, high basketball IQ, maturity and leadership as reasons the Cougars are excited to have him join their program. He said his program hopes to add a number of Utah athletes in the next few months who are just graduating or returning off missions.
LeBaron was a four-year varsity player and a four-year Academic All-Region recipient at Timpanogos. He made the all-region team as a sophomore and led Class 5A in 3-point shooting for most of the season before finishing runner-up to Reyes Gallegos, who would sign with Nebraska.
LeBaron also played for the club team Utah Pump-N-Run for five years in his youth.
