Looking for parking
I applaud Chad Mullins in his effort to encourage reduced driving to reduce air pollution ("U. car lots a broken promise?" Opinion, March 26), but he misses out on one fact: Lack of parking has not been enough to discourage drivers.
Visit the University of Utah between 8 a.m. and noon (the busiest time), and you will find that there are many cars circling the lots waiting for a spot, pumping emissions into the air as they idle and accelerate.
It would be wonderful if these drivers did choose TRAX instead, but continuing to have insufficient parking actually contributes to the pollution problem rather than mitigating it.
