A measure elevating the penalty for leaking private information contained on the concealed weapons permit list cruised to passage Wednesday in the Senate.
HB317 passed 28-1.
The bill sponsored by Rep. Jacob Anderegg, R-Orem, would make revealing information on the list a class A misdemeanor. The higher penalty would even apply to sharing information with federal agencies, unless they needed the information in connection with investigating a criminal matter.
Currently, revealing such private information is a class B misdemeanor.
The bill previously passed the House 62-9.
