Millcreek • A bicyclist died Wednesday after being hit by a TRAX train in Millcreek at 4100 South and about 200 West.

Brandon G. Robinson, 27, was wearing street clothes rather than biking attire, said Unified Police Lt. Rosie Rivera.

The incident was reported at 4:57 p.m., according to dispatchers.

The train was traveling south when the eastbound cyclist rode into its path.

In that area, the train would have been going between 45 and 55 mph, said UTA Lt. Alex Blauer.

Robinson was dead at the scene.

Blauer said all the barricade arms and lights at the crossing were in working order.

The incident impacted blue and red lines, and a bus bridge was set up between Meadowbrook and Murray North.

The accident scene was cleared by 8:34 p.m., and UTA indicated train service returning to normal. But they said riders could expect some residual red and blue line delays.
