State colleges: BYU baseball sweeps Seattle to extend win streak

BYU baseball routed Seattle University, winning 10-0 on the road Wednesday. The Cougars jumped to an early 2-0 lead, and saw nine players rack up 12 hits. Brennon Ander knocked in a two-run homer to give the Cougars a 7-0 lead in the seventh.

Arizona 14, Utah Valley 5 • The Wolverines fell to the No. 10 Wildcats in Tucson for a split of their midweek series. The Wolverines were held scoreless in the last three innings, as the Wildcats scored six runs in the fifth inning to clinch the win.

Swimming & diving

Utah’s women’s team sits in last place after the first day of the Pac-12 Championships in Federal Way, Wash. The Utes finished with 46 points, 50 points behind seventh-place UCLA.

Women’s basketball

Utah Valley 72, Cal State Bakersfield 69 • The Wolverines turned a three-point halftime deficit into a win in Orem, with four players scoring in double digits. Sammie Jensen scored just eight points but had a game-high 15 rebounds.
