Every time I read about the debate in the Utah Legislature over allowing the open carry of guns, I think about the provocative man in J.C. Penney with a rifle slung over his back and a gun on his hip (“Photos of man shopping with rifle at Utah J.C. Penney go viral,” Tribune, Jan. 18). If it were turned into the movie “Assault Rifle Goes Shopping,” here are three possible scenarios:

1. Shoppers agitated; gunman gets headlines.

2. Shoppers scream; gunman reacts; bystander shoots gunman.

3. Shoppers ignore gunman; gunman shoots shoppers.

The movie is perfect for sequels: “Assault Rifle Goes to Work,” “Assault Rifle Goes to the Cinema” and “Assault Rifle Goes to School.”
