Civics Central: Murray to talk UTOPIA, Farmington looks at trails

Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Bluffdale City Council • Will hold a public hearing and consider and vote on the C7 Data Center expansion; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., City Hall, 14350 S. 2200 West, Bluffdale.

Centerville City Council • Will consider, in its capacity as the Redevelopment Agency board, a resolution initiating a study of a potential new project area west of Interstate 15 in the vicinity of the 1250 West overpass and Legacy Highway; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., 250 N. Cottonwood City Council • Will discuss at a study session the Canyon Centre development; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 5 p.m., 1265 E. Fort Union Blvd., Room 250, Cottonwood Heights.

Davis County Commission • Will hear an announcement about the Bountiful/Davis Art Center exhibit; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m., Davis County Administrative Office Building, 61 S. Main St., Farmington. View the Davis County agenda.

Davis County Library Board • Has canceled its Tuesday, Feb. 19, meeting.

Eagle Mountain City Council • Will discuss utility bill management and its format for residents at its work session at 4 p.m. at 1650 Stagecoach Run. View the Eagle Mountain agenda.

Farmington City Council • Will consider an interlocal cooperation agreement for construction of a public trail system along the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad right of way; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., 160 S. Main, Farmington. View the Farmington agenda.

Kaysville City Council • Will consider the rezone of 0.53 acre at 1051 W. 200 North from R-1-20 (Single Family Residential) to PB (Professional Business); Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., 23 E. Center St., Kaysville. View the Kaysville agenda.

Layton City • An introductory meeting about a sewer line repair project along 2700 South/Gordan Avenue between 2000 West in Syracuse and Main Street in Layton will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m., Bluff Ridge Elementary School, 2680 S. 775 West, Syracuse.

Murray City Council • Will hold a public hearing on a proposal to appropriate $168,800 from general fund reserves for the Utah Telecommunications Open Infrastructure Agency (UTOPIA) to use for operational expenses; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 6:30 p.m., Murray City Center, 5025 S. North Davis Fire District • Will consider adoption of a mutual aid agreement with Weber Fire District; Thursday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m., Station 41, 381 N. 3150 West, West Point. View the North Davis Fire District agenda.

North Salt Lake City Council • Will consider an ordinance rezoning real property located at approximately 900 N. Redwood Road from C-G, General Commercial, to M-D, Manufacturing Distribution; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., 10 E. Center St., North Salt Lake. View the North Salt Lake agenda.

Ogden City Council • Will meet at the Marshall White Center, 222 28th St., to discuss and receive public comments about the Jefferson Community Plan; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m. View the Ogden agenda.

Salt Lake County Council • Has canceled its work session and formal meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Salt Lake City Council • Will consider adopting a "Community Development Area" for block 70 that would allow the Redevelopment Agency to collect tax increment. Block 70 includes the proposed site of the Utah Performing Arts Center; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., 451 S. Main, Room 315, Salt Lake City. View the Salt Lake City agenda.

Sandy City Council • Will attend the Annual Citizen Volunteers Awards Banquet; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State St. The awards ceremony recognizes those to give service to the city. View the Sandy agenda.

Saratoga Springs City Council • Will consider a resolution to change the city's consolidated fee schedule. The meeting will take place Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at 1307 North Commerce Drive Suite 200. View the Saratoga Springs agenda.

South Jordan City Council • Will consider authorizing the implementation of a capital improvement project for the Mystic Springs Wetland Educational Nature Area Project; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 6 p.m., 1600 W. Towne Center Drive, South Jordan. View the South Jordan agenda.

Syracuse City • Will hold an introductory meeting about a sewer line repair project along 2700 South/Gordan Avenue between 2000 West in Syracuse and Main Street in Layton; Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m., Bluff Ridge Elementary School, 2680 S. 775 West, Syracuse.

Taylorsville • Mayor Jerry Rechtenbach will give his State of the City address; Wednesday, Feb. 20, 3 p.m., 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd. (5325 South), Taylorsville.

Taylorsville City Council » Will consider a resolution declaring support for the locally preferred alternative for the proposed Taylorsville Murray Bus Rapid Transit Project; Wednesday, Feb. 20, 6:30 p.m., 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd. (5325 South), Taylorsville. View the Taylorsville agenda.

West Bountiful City Council • Will consider approval of an interlocal cooperation agreement between Davis County and the city for animal control services for 2013; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7:30 p.m., 550 N. 800 West, West Bountiful. View the West Bountiful agenda.

West Jordan City Council • Will discuss and possibly take action on the city's 2013 utility rates; Wednesday, Feb. 20, 6 p.m. 8000 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan. View the West Jordan agenda.

West Point City Council • Will consider amending the city fee schedule for secondary water fees and commercial sewer fees; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m., 3200 W. 300 North, West Point. View the West Point agenda.

West Valley City Council • Will discuss in a study meeting establishing a city ethics commission. No action will be taken at this meeting; Tuesday, Feb. 19, 4:30 p.m., 3600 S.
