World-class trumpet player Allen Vizzutti, who has performed with such greats as Chick Corea and Chuck Mangione, will be the guest artist at the Utah Wind Symphony concert TONIGHT.
Vizzutti will also perform master classes and clinics at the University of Utah and at Park City High School and at the annual Utah Music Education Association meeting in St. George.
His visit to the Beehive state was arranged through Yamaha instruments, the University of Utah, UWS, the Legacy Music Alliance, and Summerhays Music.
"To have someone of Vizzutti’s stature come to Utah not only for a performance but to give his time in service to students and share his remarkable talent over a three day period is extraordinary," said Keith Sorensen, director of K-12 programs for Legacy Music Alliance, in a press release. "He may not have the household name that some of the other great trumpet players do but he is regarded with same high respect within the jazz community."
Tickets for the UWS concert at Cottonwood High School, 5715 South 1300 East in Murray, can be purchased online at www.utahwindsymphony.org.
The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the general public.
Legacy Music Alliance is the first major corporate sponsor and underwriter of the Utah Wind Symphony.
The Utah Wind Symphony is in its third season under Music Director Scott Hagen and is composed of 55 wind, brass and percussion musicians from throughout the state.
Legacy Music Alliance was organized in 2010 as a non-profit association to bolster music education in the Intermountain West. The Legacy Music Alliance is headed by CEO Gaylen Rust and Dr. Craig Jessop.
You might have heard Vizzutti (whose most recent CD is "Ritzville", featuring Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke) on Steve Williams' radio show last night. I had the privilege of having lunch with Vizzutti and representatives from Summerhays and the Legacy Music Alliance, and Vizzutti is an articulate, amiable man who has a passion for music that comes through during every sentence. Do yourself a favor and check this master out!
