Eagle Mountain city employees and residents using Verizon Wireless awoke Friday with no service on their phones in the city center area, but service was restored by early afternoon.

Because of the outage, the public works emergency hot line that normally routes calls to city workers’ Verizon cell phones weren’t available on Friday morning, leaving city officials to ask residents who had a utility or storm drain related emergency to call a temporary land line number set up during the outage.

Eagle Mountain city spokeswoman Linda Peterson said the outage was reported at 6 a.m. Friday morning. It was fixed as of 2:15 p.m.

To be safe, the city routed utility emergency calls to its billing office.
