Utah Jazz: Mo Williams surgery goes as planned, team says

Phoenix • Utah Jazz point guard Mo Williams’ surgery on his injured right thumb “went according to plan,” the team announced Friday morning.

Williams was operated on in New York City. He will wear a splint on his thumb and be re-evaluated in six seeks. His physical activity will be limited to restricted weight lifting and conditioning work.

Williams, who averages 12.9 points and 6.7 assists, was injured on Dec. 22 at Miami.

In Williams’ place, veteran Jamaal Tinsley is again expected to start Friday night, when the Jazz play the Suns. Earl Watson will back-up Tinsley.
