Laughs, country style?

The Westerner, a 16,000 square-foot dance hall, is an alternative to all the downtown clubs that play the same mix of pop, rap and techno. Besides country and line dancing, on Wednesdays the club features a comedy night. This week they're featuring Dr. D and Lady Kandy.

Where • The Westerner, 3360 S. Redwood Road, West Valley City

Admission • $5

Jam night at The Woodshed

On jam night, patrons are invited to play along with The Woodshed's house band, Music Glue. For musicians new to the concept, just imagine you're playing Rock Band, but with real instruments.

Where • The Woodshed, 60 E. 800 South, Salt Lake City
