Depending on how you interpret the Maya calendar, Friday supposedly ushers in the end of the world. Fortunately, there are several businesses turning that doomsday prediction into a reason to celebrate. Here are a few local hot spots for your apocalypse-eve planning.

Winter Ball

The Salt Haus, an indoor music and art venue that opened in October, hosts a semi-formal 21+ party. (Usually it’s an all-ages venue.) Music by Mederios Jazz Trio, Beachmen and DJ Turtleboy, with a showcase of works by artists Ben Meeks, Tyler James, Simone Gordon, Calvin Denney, Kenzie Udseth and Jimi Bennight.

Winter solstice

If partying like an apocalyptic rockstar isn’t your thing, head to Crone’s Hollow for the “Wounded Healer” winter solstice party. Organizers say it will include “good healing music, good people and good energy.”
