Here's what's happening today in pop culture – and it all revolves around the Grammy nominations:

• A six-way tie for most nominations? That's democracy in action. Congrats to Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, fun., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean and Kanye West – who each got six nominations. [AP, via The Salt Lake Tribune]

• Topping the list of people you wouldn't expect to be a Grammy nominee: TV show host Rachel Maddow (who got a nod in the Spoken Word Album category for reading the audiobook of her military-policy best-seller “Drift”). [The Huffington Post]
