Here's what's happening today in pop culture:

• The Independent Spirit Awards – given to the best in independent film – have announced their nominees, with “Moonrise Kingdom” and “Silver Linings Playbook” leading with five nominations each. They will compete for Best Picture with “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Bernie” and “Keep the Lights On.” [Movie City News]

• Your winner of the “all-star” season of “Dancing With the Stars” are Melissa Rycroft (the one-time “Bachelor” cast-off) and pro Tony Dovolani. [The Hollywood Reporter]
