Volunteers with the Festival of Trees have put the last-minute touches on displays in the 42nd annual fundraiser for Primary Children’s Medical Center. Among the displays this year is an intricate gingerbread house made by the Timpview Women’s Correctional Facility.
The fundraiser began in 1970, when a group of 15 women led by Betty Wells organized the event built around all things Christmas. In the 42 years since, the Festival of Trees has raised almost $31 million for the children’s hospital, including $1.65 million last year.
The Festival of Trees will run Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy.
