In Part 2 of Ken Burns' The Dust Bowl (7 and 9 p.m., PBS/Ch. 7), things are beginning to get better.
The government's attempts to stabilize the soil and bring farms back to life get a big boost when the drought ends in 1939. And California's population booms as the refugees land there.
But all is not well. We also learn that, if we're not careful, the Dust Bowl could return.
It's fascinating stuff.
