Orem police were seeking the public's help in bringing a bank robber to justice.

Orem police Sgt. Craig Martinez said the holdup occurred about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday when the suspect walked into the Alpine Credit Union at 351 E., 800 South, and handed a note to a teller.

"He referred to having a weapon. The teller complied and he left with an undisclosed amount of cash," Martinez said.

The man fled the scene on foot, heading north. Police shut down nearby Orem High School and Scera Elementary School while they conducted a search of the area, but soon reopened the schools when the suspect could not be found.

Martinez described the suspect as a 5-foot-2 white man, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and white shoes.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to either call 911 or Orem police at 801-229-7070.
