Mad Man For Obama
Utah Democrats who made the trip to Grand Junction, Colo., to campaign for President Barack Obama got a pep talk with a little star power over the weekend.
"Mad Men" star Jon Hamm met with volunteers at the Obama campaign office and offered words of encouragement to workers before they were heading out to canvass neighborhoods.
Actress Jennifer Westfeldt who is Hamm's long-time girlfriend, actor Laurence Fishburne and actress Stephanie March also pumped up the gathering before the stars manned a phone bank to make get-out-the-vote calls.
Annette Bowman, one of the volunteers from Utah, said the celebrities praised Obama's leadership and thanked the canvassers for their work.
"They told us that they feel it is incredibly important to win the re-election because President Obama is a great person and, by every door we go to, one by one, we are making a difference," Bowman said.
Republicans have had actors Kelsey Grammer and John Ratzenberger of "Cheers" fame rallying supporters for Romney, as well as actor Jon Voight.
Both Democrats and Republicans plan to send one more wave of volunteers into the battleground states of Nevada and Colorado before election day. You can read more about Utahns' volunteer efforts in neighboring states here.
