Allen leads Snow to blowout win
Ephraim • Breon Allen rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns as No. 10-ranked Snow exploded for 24 points in the second quarter en route to a 48-3 win over Eastern Arizona in JUCO football Saturday afternoon.
Christian Stewart was 13 of 20 for 240 yards and three touchdowns, and Damond Powell caught four passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns for the Badgers (8-1, 6-0 Western State Football League).
Simon Fraser 58, Dixie State 47 • In St. George, ex-Utah quarterback Griff Robles was 32 of 45 for 339 yards and five touchdowns in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference loss Saturday.
Dixie State is 3-6 and 3-5 in the GNAC.
Utah State 3, Louisiana Tech 0 • In Logan, Josselyn White set a school record in attack hitting percentage (81.2), converting 13 of 16 attempts to lead the Aggies to their third straight sweep and fourth straight conference win 25-18, 25-19, 25-14.
The Aggies (17-2, 12-2) are in first place in the Western Athletic Conference.
BYU 3, Portland 0 • In Portland, Ore., Nicole Warner tallied eight kills and eight kills to lead the No. 18 Cougars to their second straight sweep 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 in West Coast Conference play.
The Cougars are 21-2 and 9-2 in the WCC.
Utah Valley 3, Texas-Pan American 0 • In Orem, Erica Nish had a match-high 10 kills to lead the Wolverines to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-15 victory to move into a tie for first place in the Great West Conference.
UVU is 14-8 and 5-1 in the GWC.
BYU 5, Saint Mary's 0 • In Provo, five players scored a goal as the No. 5-ranked Cougars improved to 16-1-1 in their final home game of the regular season to improve to 5-0-1 in the West Coast Conference.
Women's swimming and diving
Reigning national champion Cal defeated Utah 184-115 at Ute Nataorium.
Traycie Swartz won the 50 freestyle (51.33 seconds), and Kirsten Merry swept the diving events with 267.07 points on the 1 meter and 281.47 points on the 3 meter.
The Utes also won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.13.
Weber State • In Flagstaff, Ariz., the women's team defeated Southern Utah by seven points to win its second straight Big Sky Conference championship. Weber State claimed the top three spots in the 5K, with Amber Henry placing first in 16 :59.7, Sarah Callister was second (17:02.1) and Taylor Thornley third (17:06.9).
The men's team was second, led by John Coyle, who covered the 8K course in 24:59.
Utah Valley • In Chicago, the men's and women's team repeated as Great West Conference champions. It was the fourth straight conference title for the men and fifth straight for the women.
Cliff Nielson won the men's 8K title in 24:59. Krystal Harper was second in the women's 5K, finishing in 18:04.
Utah State • In Ruston, La., the men's team placed second and the women's team was third in the Western Athletic Conference Championships. Kyle McKenna was second in the men's 8K in 24:06.9 and Eric Shellhorn was sixth in 24:47.79. Alex Litzsinger was fourth in the women's 5K in 17:31.61 and Tylee Newman placed fifth in 17:39.56.
BYU • In Portland, Ore., the men's team place second and the women's team was third in the West Coast Conference Championships.
BYU's Jared Ward won the men's 8K in 23 minutes, 42 seconds. Natalie Shields place fourth in the women's 6K in 20:38.
Utah • In San Clarita, Calif., Amanda Mergaert finished sixth in the Pac-12 Championships, covering the 6K course in 20:22 as the Utes placed seventh out of nine teams.
Southern Utah • In Flagstaff, Ariz., the women's team placed second and the men's team was third at the Big Sky Conference Championships.
Jamie Smith was fourth in the women's 5K in 17:11.9, and Nat Jewkes placed fourth in the men's 8K in 24:58.5.
