Lucy Biles couldn't sense anyone behind her for a while. But she's been used to it.

She didn't let it slow her down too much en route to the day's best time at 17:49. The Herriman sophomore was thrilled to have dominated her way to her first state title, beating out Mountain Crest's Miranda O'Very and Orem's Summer Harper.

"I've always wanted to beat Summer, she's such a great runner," Biles said. "It's kind of weird to see my name up with theirs."
