NBA • Mavericks guard Delonte West has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. A team spokeswoman said Tuesday that coach Rick Carlisle didn't indicate how long the suspension would be. She declined to provide further details.

The Mavericks play their next preseason game at home Wednesday night against Phoenix.

West has battled a bipolar disorder during his career. He was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2010-11 season after pleading guilty to weapons charges in Maryland. Authorities say he was carrying three loaded guns and a knife when he was stopped for speeding on a three-wheel motorcycle in 2009.

West was a valuable player off the Dallas bench last season and is expected to fill a similar role in 2012-13.

• King County Executive Dow Constantine and Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn signed legislation Tuesday on the funding plan for construction of an arena that could be used to lure the NBA back to Seattle. The executives signed the deal a day after a negotiated memorandum of understanding between the city, county and investor Chris Hansen was approved by the city and county councils. The plan calls for a $490 million arena built in the area where Safeco Field and CenturyLink Field are located, with $200 million in public financing.

• In Minneapolis, Kevin Love had 24 points and eight rebounds and Brandon Roy chipped in 19 points in Minnesota's 114-81 victory over Maccabi Haifa. Andrei Kirilenko had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists after sitting out the previous game with a sore hamstring.

Tie with France ends Spain's streak

SOCCER • Spain's 24-game winning streak in qualifiers ended Tuesday night in Madrid when Olivier Giroud scored in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time, giving France a 1-1 tie in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.
