Report: BYU makes prep basketball phenom Jabari Parker's final five
High school basketball phenom Jabari Parker, the No. 1 senior in the country, has trimmed his list of potential schools to five. And BYU is on it. Reggie Rankin, a scout and analysts for ESPN Recruiting, tweeted out Friday afternoon that he spoke to the product of Simeon Career Academy in the Chicago Area. "List cut to five. No order. Stanford, BYU, Duke, Michigan State, Florida," wrote Rankin. Parker' high school coach recently told reporters that Parker will make an official visit to Florida in early November to go with his upcoming visits to Duke and Michigan State. It is assumed that Parker will now add BYU and Stanford to his list of planned official visits. He will visit Duke on Oct. 27 and the date of his visit to MSU is not known yet. Parker released a list of 10 schools he was still considering last July. The list included BYU, DePaul, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina and Stanford. BYU coach Dave Rose made an official visit to Parker's home last month, along with eight or so other coaches. Parker was named the national Gatorade Player of the Year after his junior season in which he averaged 19.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
