At long last, it's this year's first presidential debate (7 p.m., Channels 2, 4, 5, 7, 13, CNBC, CNN, C-SPAN, FNC, FBN, MSNBC). President Barack Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney face off at the University of Denver.

It's not that I've been all that anxious to see the debate. But I am extraordinarily tired of the unending, mind-numbing "analysis" of the upcoming event that has been all over television news.

The TV pundits are like football "experts" giving preseason analysis. They don't really have a clue how things are going to turn out, but they talk like they do.

Elsewhere on TV ...

Supernatural (8 p.m., CW/Ch.30): Dean escapes from purgatory, but his reunion with Sam isn't what he thought it would be. (Season premiere)

The X Factor (8:30 p.m., Fox/Ch. 13): The singers who made it through auditions head to boot camp.

Survivor: Philippines (9 p.m., CBS/Ch. 2): One of the contestants is hurt during a challenge.

The Middle (9 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): After she gets fired, Frankie goes to tech school.

Animal Practice (9 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): A boy is left at the animal hospital.

The Neighbors (9:30 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4): The humans take the aliens to the mall.

Guys with Kids (9:30 p.m., NBC/Ch. 5): Nick gets overly competitive for a school project - a plot we've seen approximately 11 million times before in other sitcoms.

South Park (11 p.m., Comedy Central): Cartman finally admits he's fat and gets a mobility scooter.

Ket & Peele (11:30 p.m., Comedy Central): In one sketch, President Obama and his anger translator speaking to Mitt Romney.
