Apparently if you're rich in China, Utah starts looking really good.

A Reuters story about China's economic elites (published here on the Calgary Herald's website) details how some of the super-rich are spending their excess money — and for one couple, that includes a vacation this month in Utah.

To quote from the story:

"52Safari, a hunting club that caters to wealthy Chinese, is also having a good year. Scott Lupien, the club's American founder, will run three hunting tour groups this holiday. One couple, heading to the U.S. state of Utah for an elk hunting trip, is paying 250,000 yuan ($39,600)."

Spending among China's very wealthy is continuing, Reuters reports, in spite of an economic downturn there. The Chinese elites tend to spend a lot abroad to avoid paying steep taxes at home.
