Take a walk, guv
Re "Utah Gov. issues health challenge to state workers," Tribune, Sept. 25):
At his 2012 Health Summit, Gov. Gary Herbert challenged state employees to "lead by example" and get off the couch and lose weight, noting that better health hinges on decisions we make outside the doctor's office.
"Too many of us are couch potatoes. We can do more and watch less," Herbert said. "True health reform boils down to not just policy ⦠but what we do through our own personal responsibility."
I see a lot of talk but little leadership. The Governor's Mansion on South Temple and 600 East is 1.5 miles from the State Capitol. Herbert needs to "lead by example" and walk to work.
That would send the best message of all. With his busy travel schedule, he can't walk to his office every day, but even three times a week would be good.
Come on, guv! We lead by example.
