Plans for tonight: It’s State Fair time!

• The first weekend of the Utah State Fair happens at the Utah State Fairpark, North Temple and 1000 West, Salt Lake City. Grandstand headliners this weekend (at 7:30 p.m. each night) are: Singing trio Wilson Phillips tonight; Christian rockers Jars of Clay on Saturday; and Scottish pop star Sheena Easton on Sunday. (Tickets to Wilson Phillips are $25; Tickets to Jars of Clay and Easton are free with fair admission.) The fair’s hours are 10 a.m.-11 p.m. today and Saturday; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sunday. Fair admission is $10 for adults; $7 for youth (6 to 12) and seniors (65 and older); free for kids 5 and under; available at the gates.

• The Salt Lake Greek Festival runs today through Sunday at the Greek Orthodox Church, 279 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City. Hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. today and Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $3, at the door.

• New Orleans “secular gospel” band Brother Joscephus & The Love Revival Revolution Orchestra performs tonight at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Opening act: The Chickens. Show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $12, from State Room’s website.

• Australian singing legend Olivia Newton-John performs tonight at the Sandy Ampitheater, 9400 S. 1300 East, Sandy. Show starts at 8. Tickets, from $30 to $49, available at Smith’s Tix.

• Alt-country heroes The Old 97’s perform Saturday at The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Rhett Miller (frontman for the Old 97’s, performing solo). Show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 on the day of the show, at 24Tix.

• Jazz guitarist Pat Metheny performs with his Unity Band (featuring Chris Potter, Antonio Sanchez & Ben Williams), Sunday at The State Room, 638 S. State St., Salt Lake City. Shows start at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $47.50, at State Room’s website.
