Orange coriander ice cream • A reader tipped us off to the homemade ice cream at this Thai restaurant, where bits of orange peel add a kick. Other interesting-sounding flavors include pomegranate rosehip, honey lavender, non-dairy coconut and hibiscus.

Shop talk • Chabaar serves a full menu of Thai staples such as pad Thai and a spectrum of curry dishes, as well as an assortment of American favorites for the more timid palate. You can get a scoop of ice cream to go at the register, but an assortment of cookies including chocolate chipotle and oatmeal orange chocolate chip might tempt you as well.
