Throughout the month of August, Tribune writers are tasting our way through some of Utah’s finest frozen confections including ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt and shave ice in an effort to beat the heat. Today’s pick:
Pomegranate frozen yogurt • A clean, fruity-flavored nonfat frozen yogurt, without the kick of an artificial sugar aftertaste, with a varied selection of toppings, from fruit to nuts and more.
YoWay Yogurt • 675 E. 2100 South, Salt Lake City. 801-466-3739; open Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sunday, noon-10 p.m.
Price • 35 cents per ounce, plus toppings for one regular-size scoop.
Shop talk • Sebastian Hwang opened the Sugar House frozen yogurt shop in January 2010. He uses fresh ingredients and vouches for his flavors, which he tastes every day. “Everything I sell here, I can recommend, because I eat it,” he says. His large, clean shop has brightly colored walls and modern-styled lights and accessories.
