Freshman Travis Wilson has taken some hits in practice lately for the Utes, but perhaps that rattling has done the quarterback some good. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said Wilson has made big gains lately. "The light switch is coming on," he said. "He had a little bit of a slow start to camp but has really progressed the last couple of days." Whittingham said Wilson's improvement isn't to the point where there is a depth chart change and he is now ahead of veteran Jon Hays, but Wilson will continue to get more reps as warranted. Wilson and the rest of the offense did have trouble in the red zone Saturday and jumped offsides twice, giving Whittingham something to grumble about in what otherwise was a good day. "The red zone offense is not where it needs to be," he said. "But overall the effort and concentration is there. They are trying hard. We still have 19 days until we play and we need every one of them." Defensively, linebacker Jacoby Hale, Joseph Smith and Ryan Lacy were among those who made some nice plays in Saturday's session. Video for you of Whittingham discussing Saturday's practice as well as running back John White, who gives a rundown of the offense.
