A Taylorsville man is accused of stealing ice skates, phones and other equipment valued at nearly $5,000 from the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns.

Security video from the ice rink showed two men carrying duffel bags out of a locker room. Footage shows a pickup truck registered to the man leaving the scene at the time of the theft. When police interviewed the man, his clothes were the same as the clothes of one of the two thieves in the video.

Several users of the rink reported belongings were missing from the locker room, including a pair of ice skates with gold blades, worth $3,000. Three 12-year-olds reported missing cell phones worth $700, $600 and $400, respectively.

The suspect, 41, was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with six counts of third-degree felony theft.
