Salt Lake City ranks high among U.S. cities in a travel magazine's list of "Most Affordable City Getaways."

According to an annual survey of Travel + Leisure readers, Utah's capital ranked No. 2 behind Kansas City, Mo. Out of 35 cities, 20 topped the list for affordability, from fine dining to street food, luxury shopping to flea markets.

"Voters like [Salt Lake City] for being mellow and tidy — and it's easy for skiers to streamline expenses," a story accompanying the list said. "The city's Super Pass, a lift ticket starting at about $65 a day, gets you into Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude, and includes a free bus or light-rail ride from downtown."

The ranking also mentioned the 10-acre Temple Square as a top visitor destination.

Kansas City topped the listing for its relatively low airfares and reasonably priced hotels and restaurants.
