The Beehive State parties like it's 1847 on Tuesday, but don't be afraid to skip the parades and rodeos to hit the trail.

To get an authentic Pioneer Day hiking experience, try Emigration Canyon. Brigham Young and the pioneers went through the canyon to first reach the Salt Lake Valley.

Here are three Emigration Canyon hikes from the Hike of the Week archives. Click on the links for directions and details:

Miners Trail: 4.8 miles; 1,150 feet elevation gain.

Trail to Wagner Springs and hilltop: 2.6 miles; 850 feet elevation gain

Killyon Canyon (You drive through Emigration Canyon to reach there.): 5.6 miles; 1,745 feet
