Utah, BYU rivalry to take two-year hiatus
A day that seemed inevitable, with the scheduling of Michigan and the approaching annual series with a Big Ten opponent, finally came Tuesday.
Utah and BYU will not play football against each other in 2014 and 2015.
The rivalry had been played annually since 1946 (and before, but was disrupted during World War II). Since Utah joined the Pac-12 in 2010, the idea of Utah and BYU not playing each year was a growing probability.
Scheduling Michigan, was the nail in the proverbial coffin. So, what do you think? Does this disruption reduce the significance of playing BYU? And do you believe it should be a priority for the Utes and Cougars to schedule one another in future years, especially now that we know it won't be an annual affair?
On the flip side: Does taking a break, in some way, lend stability to the rivalry?
