Utah County sheriff’s deputies arrested an alleged fugitive felon after a high-speed chase and foot pursuit Wednesday morning .

Sheriff’s Lt. Dennis Harris said that just after midnight, a deputy attempted to pull over a 2007 Dodge Mega Cab pickup truck on Interstate 15 near Spanish Fork after recognizing after recognizing its 27-year-old driver.

An arrest warrant had been issued for the man in May by 4th District Judge Darold McDade on two third-degree felony counts of forgery.

“[He] refused to stop the vehicle and led the deputy on a high speed chase for about two miles where he left the freeway, driving through a fence and farm property,” Harris said.

The wild chase was temporarily abandoned, but about 3 a.m. members of the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team and the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force re-located the pickup truck, which had been reported earlier as stolen from Pleasant Grove.

Officers tracked the driver to Orem and he drove off in another vehicle, then abandoned it to flee on foot, Harris said. He finally was found at a residence in nearby Provo and apprehended.

He was booked into Utah County jail without bail on charges ranging from fleeing police officers, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of drugs with intent to distribute, in addition to the earlier forgery counts.
