The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) is inviting the public to enter the 10,000 Garden Challenge by documenting their gardens online.
There is no size limit, so a garden can be just one tomato plant.
For every 1,000 people who register, one will be selected to win a $500 gift certificate to the Intermountain Farmers Association County Store. Another will win a $100 gift certificate to The Farm at the Canyons Resort, or Slopes at the Waldorf Astoria, both in Park City.
“The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food recognizes the self-sufficiency of our Utah citizens and we want to acknowledge that quality by issuing this challenge,” said Leonard Blackham, Commissioner of the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, in a news release. “It is our hope that all of our food growers and communities will participate in this fun and worthwhile event.”

The challenge will launch Saturday, June 16, at 3 p.m., at the Edible Wasatch Annual Treasure Hunt for Local Food at Reservoir Park, 42 S. University St., Salt Lake City.
