Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune (File photo) Jim Dabakis, an art dealer specializing in Russian Impressionist art, moves a piece titled "Grandfather's Saw" by Grigory Leontievich Chainikov, at the Thomas Kearns McCarthey Gallery in Park City recently. Dabakis an art dealer and world traveler is an advocate and activist for the LGBT community.

You'll be hearing a couple of familiar voices in new places on your radio dial:

• Whittney Evans has joined the news staff at KUER, 90.1 FM, the public-radio station based at the University of Utah.

Evans moved to Utah in 2009 to take a job as producer, reporter and morning host at the other public-radio station in town, KCPW.

• Jim Dabakis, the chairman of the Utah Democratic Party, is getting a weekly show on K-Talk, 630 AM.

“The Dabakis Factor” will air Saturdays from 10 noon – right after “Red Meat Radio,” hosted by Republican legislators Greg Hughes and Howard Stephenson. The first show is this Saturday, June 9.

In a statement, Dabakis said: “After years of Utah's public airwaves filled almost exclusively with national extremist, right wing wacko's talk radio, enough is enough! It is time to tell the rest of the story! The Utah GOP has a virtual monopoly on information in so many parts of the state; we are confident once people hear what is really happening, minus the spin, they will be first alarmed then motivated to look for real solutions.”

Let's see how long this lasts.
