Paul Fraughton | Salt Lake Tribune Cody Slaughter, singing the role of Elvis Presley in the musical "Million Dollar Quartet," joined his fellow cast members at The Gateway in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, for a sneak peek at the show, which plays at the Capitol Theater through June 3.

Four of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s greatest performers “reunited” at The Gateway at lunch Tuesday as members of the “Million Dollar Quartet” previewed a set of songs from their musical.

Actors playing Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins took the stage for a free show at The Gateway’s Olympic Legacy Plaza in Salt Lake City.

The quartet performed shortened renditions of many of the musical’s biggest hits to an audience of shoppers and workers on their lunch breaks.

The preview performance marked the beginning of the production’s run at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City. The show runs through Sunday, June 3.

“Million Dollar Quartet” tells the story of Rock ‘n’ Roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins uniting Dec. 4, 1956 for what Heather Nash, The Gateway’s marketing director, called “one of the greatest jam sessions of all time.”
