With artisan creations and other crafts becoming the new cottage industry of our Great Recession era, it's sometimes all too easy to think you can do it all yourself. That's why they call it DIY, right?

Right. But it's also that much easier, and less time consuming to boot, when you learn at the knee—or, better yet, the hand—of someone who's done it before. Anyone from kids looking to avoid summer boredom to adults in need of a side hobby for a little more income would do well to attend Craft Lake City's workshop with Copper Palate Press.

"Screen Printing: Getting Down and Dirty with the Basics" will get you started on the basics, so you can get started having loads of fun burning your own screens for prints and posters. Copper Palate Press will have artists on hand for this two-hour craft extravaganza, with only a $5 fee for materials cutting into your precious store of hard-won dinero.

For a Monday night activity that will pay dividends later on in fun and creativity, this is a no-brainer.
