Look into the past and look to the stars this week at Antelope Island State Park.
• The Life and Times of Lake Bonneville (Thursday, May 10, 3 p.m.): A park naturalist will recount the history of Lake Bonneville, the prehistoric lake that covered nearly 20,000 square miles, including Utah and parts of Idaho and Nevada.
Meet at the Visitor Center Theater.
• Star Party (Saturday, May 12, 8:30 p.m.): Weather permitting, members of the park staff and the Ogden Astronomical Society will help you and your family gaze at the stars. Meet at White Rock Bay Day Use Area just before sunset to look at the sun through a Solar Scope. A 20-minute presentation about space is up next, followed by deep-space viewing.
Arrive no later than 8:30 pm — the park’s gate closes to incoming traffic at 9 p.m.
If you bring a flashlight, please make sure it has a red-colored lens.
Regular park entrance fees apply for both events. For more information call 801-721-9569.
