When Rowland Hall softball coach Kathy Howa can take time to appreciate what Swing For Life has grown into, she's always amazed.
The annual breast cancer research fundraiser is coming around again, with events scheduled for April 27 and 28. There will be 24 teams at this year's tournament, held at the Cottonwood Softball Complex and the Valley Softball Complex.
"It's gotten to the point where it's an amazing situation," Howa says. "I never want it to get so big that we pay anyone's salary, but it's great to have other people step in and help out. Being big is a good problem to have."
Every penny raised by Swing For Life is directly invested into the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, and all of that money goes directly to breast cancer research.
The games start at Cottonwood Complex at 8 a.m. on Friday. On Saturday, games start at both locations at 10:45 a.m. after a brief opening ceremony at the Cottonwood location at 8:30 followed by a media vs. coaches softball game at 9 a.m.
