It will come as no surprise that a national publication found Salt Lake City to be one of the least hip places in America.

But, on the bright side, we're not as bad as Dallas.

Travel & Leisure's survey of America's Best Cities for Hipsters named Salt Lake City as 34th among 35 cities surveyed - with only Dallas/Fort Worth scoring dead last.

Seattle, Portland, Ore., San Francisco, New Orleans and Portland, Maine, topped the list.

Salt Lake City scored well in the survey for wireless coverage, affordability of living, cleanliness, being a winter destination, and for peace and quiet. It scored in last place in the nightlife categories - best cocktail hour, singles/bar scene and live music scene - and for street food and as a place to have a wild weekend.

Travel & Leisure did compliment Salt Lake City for "a thriving locavore foodie scene: try it at Pago, Forage and Sage's Café."
